No free rides home for OFWs at NAIA – OWWA
NO FREE RIDES. The OWWA denies a blog’s claim that OFWs will be given free rides home (via horse-drawn carriage) upon arrival at the NAIA. MANILA, Philippines – The Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA) denied claims by a blog site that they are offering free rides home for arriving overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
QTV’s Balitanghali quoted a statement from the OWWA denying any links with the blog Desert Nomadness.
The blog claims that OFWs who worked overseas for more than six months could expect a “nice ride” home from the OWWA through its Hatid Kabayan program. A special booth was allegedly placed at the NAIA where an OFW could fill out a form and show his or her passport before taking the supposedly free service.
“Hatid Kabayan is a service where the Philippine Government arrange a special ride for OFWs from NAIA to any point of the Philippines or any provinces. It will be surely a nice ride,” the blog read.
