Imelda: Fight over Le Cirque bill shameful

While Palace chooses to become quiet

MANILA – Former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos on Thursday defended her nephew, Leyte 1st district Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, who is being criticized for paying the nearly P1 million bill for a dinner with President Arroyo and her party in the United States.

“You know, we’re talking about a dinner for a President for an anniversary, and in America, it’s double, triple the prices. And you cannot put them in the sidewalk for their anniversary. Maawa naman kayo, para ‘yon lang! Nakakahiya ‘yong pinag-aawayan. Doon sa Amerika, ‘di malaki iyon,” Marcos told ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual in an exclusive interview.

Cocaine traces found in 90 percent of greenbacks

WASHINGTON (AFP) – - US paper currency is roughed up and often soiled in circulation, but a study has found that some 90 percent of greenbacks contain traces of cocaine, giving new meaning to the term “dirty money.”

That is a nearly 20 percent jump over a similar study conducted two years earlier where 67 percent of dollar bills were shown to contain cocaine traces, according to researchers who presented the study Sunday at the annual National Meeting of the American Chemical Society.

The startling discovery points to the continuing widespread use of cocaine in the United States, one of the world’s biggest consumers of the drug.

Eric Dane, Rebecca Gayheart threesome nude video leaks: Gray anatomy?

A tape of who appears to be “Grey’s Anatomy” star Eric Dane, his wife Rebecca Gayheart, and another woman — reportedly former Miss United States Teen Kari Ann Peniche — together in a nude video has spread online, but a lawyer for the couple said the tape should “not be used for any commercial purposes.”

“This is simply a private consensual moment involving a married couple, shot several years ago, which was never intended to be seen by the public,” Dane’s lawyer Marty Singer said in a statement.

Senators hail Malacaňang decision to cancel jet purchase

By junking its plan to buy a presidential jet for P1.2 billion, Malacaňang received a pat on the back on Monday from its critics, who had said such a purchase at a time of economic crisis showed lack of sensitivity.

Senator Rodolfo Biazon, chairman of the Senate committee on national defense and security, said the money should be used instead to repair and refurbish the Philippine Air Force’s transport planes.

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel hailed the decision as “a good move.”

“The circumstances do not justify the acquisition of a jet plane. Her term is about to end,” he said.
