And this time is no exception, even as his trainer, Freddie Roach, and Ricky Hatton’s trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr., have traded barbs before the press, often times catching the soft-spoken, kind-hearted Filipino champion in the crossfire.

MEXICO CITY (AFP) – - Airlines and tour operators suspended flights to Mexico on Tuesday as new cases of a deadly strain of swine flu were confirmed across the globe and officials warned of more fatalities.

The United States cautioned it may soon see its first deaths from the virus , which thus far has proved fatal only in Mexico, where more than 150 people are believed to have died from the flu.

SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) – - Internet rights champions have accused Apple of stifling free speech by bullying OdioWorks into ending online sharing of ways to get iPods to work with music websites other than iTunes.

Attorneys from nonprofit Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) teamed with OdioWorks lawyers to file a lawsuit against California-based Apple in a US federal court.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (AFP) – - Manny Pacquiao avoided Manila’s distracting delights to train in Hollywood so he could better focus upon what he needs to do to win Saturday’s showdown fight with England’s Ricky Hatton.

After working out for weeks next door to a Thai restaurant where he would eat dinner, the Filipino boxing star has found his focus and is confident he can become a champion in a record-matching sixth different weight division.

MANILA, Philippines – A day after being acquitted by the Court of Appeals (CA) of raping a Filipina in Subic nearly four years ago, Lance Cpl. Daniel Smith has left the country to return to the US, reports said today.

“Following the decision of the Court of Appeals, Daniel Smith has left the Philippines,” the US Embassy in Manila said in a statement.
